Help us make it rightMariscos Costa Azul has been serving the valley authentic Mexican food for over 13 years! With an extensive menu your whole party is sure to find a dish that satisfies their craving!
Pretty good for a dive-y lunch break. I generally go for the Chile Colorado, the Carne Asada or one of the macho burritos, including the fish. Tortas are also pretty good, as are the two house salsas, served with the chips.
If you like seafood, try the 7 seas soup (siete mares) or, if you don't like octopus and the likes, try the cocktail de camarones (shrimp cocktail which isn't really a shrimp cocktail but is more like a cold shrimp soup).
Both dishes taste great and the restaurant and food is very kid friendly to boot!
I love to stumble upon an authentic mexican restaurant. We were staying at the hotel down the street and thought we were at a loss for decent food in the area. Sure glad we spotted this. Super friendly service and very good food.
Passed this place dozens of times and finally gave it a try. And glad we did.
Their shrimp cocktail was delicious. The sauce was soupy, unlike thicker versions found in American restaurants
And packed with tasty shrimp. Noticed this item was popular with a few...other customers. The menu featured many authentic dishes. Will have to give the chile relleno a shot next time.
Our waitress was the best. The food here was fabulous. Every plate was one of the best Mexican food we have ever had. Even the hot sauce provided for the chips was outstanding. The prize plate was a whole red snapper prepared Veracruzean style that...was beautiful and tasty. All five of us stated that this food was the best. Shrimp tacos, fish tacos, cheese enchiladas, and pork enchiladas...
I was in town on business last Mon. And enjoyed a large plate of tacos & a beer. The service was great & I obviously left there happy. I was in a food coma when I left & neglected to pick up my credit card...as I was departing the next day they were kind enough to mail it to me when I called. The chips & salsa were good I prefer spicy green salsa over the red.
Generous portions & clean...
We love to go there for their Mexican shrimp cocktails. I haven't really tried any of their other food but the shrimp cocktail is worth the visit. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.
I am a gringo, so I was pleasantly surprised when I ate the best Shrimp Cocktail ever!! It's actually a cold soup, kind of like gazpacho, but zestier and its loaded, I mean really loaded with big chunks of juicy and not overcooked Jumbo Shrimp.
I went here on the recommendation of a hotel staff person. Their focus is seafood, but they do have a few other Mexican dishes. Their are many octopus dishes, along with shrimp and talapia. I opted for Camarones en mojo de ajo (shrimp in a...butter garlic sauce). It came with rice and re fried beans; I requested whole beans but apparently they don't have them. The shrimp came in its own plate...
Truly fantastic Mexican cuisine! The language barrier can be a challenge but it's worth solving. Absolutely delicious food, attentive staff, full bar on site, very reasonable prices, and nice sized portions. One more time: Really, really good food!!
I had the Chili Colorado Burrito and it was outstanding! Plus, it was about the size of a football; so big I couldn't finish it! The salsa was good but (like other reviewers) I found it a bit bland. They have a good selection of...ice cold beer, too!
Be prepared to choose from a Mexican menu, and receive delicious food quick - either to go or to eat in. Also, you can follow sports events on spanish speaking TV stations.
Glimpsed this joint heading to my hotel and the front desk guy, something of a Hipster, said it was "the bomb". He was right. A bit funky but very clean this is a popular spot. The menu emphasizes seafood (lobster $45) but the more traditional...dishes were cheap and tasty.
I'm from back east but when I come to LA this is the kind of place I LOVE!
We wanted Mexican food for dinner, and this restaurant had good reviews so we gave it a try. The atmosphere was sort of festive with murals on the walls. In short, the service and food were severely lacking in quality. We ordered a half dozen...oysters, and were brought a dozen. We waited a long time for a bottle of Negra Modelo and a glass of water. The carnitas were dry and not tender, and...
Found this place by appetite default after Monsterpalooza...and i gotta say its some one of thee best places to go to for Mariscos. I myself got the Camarones Rancheros and wasn't disappointed one bit. But looking at the caldos and shrimp cocktails other patrons were getting, i can tell this place hooks it all up righteously. A+ !
Great fish and sea food. Big plates, great bears, nice service.easy one to go.Best restaurant close to the Courtyard Hotel.
Pretty good mexican food - casual place that I came for lunch.Got the beef flautas - tasted homemade and fresh and came with chips, beans, pickled veggies and rice.I have to say the rice was kind of bland but the rest was good.I think it's a decent place to stop by for lunch but not sure I would entirely go out of my way to come here.
Food is good. Priced right. Fish taste fresh and does not smell like fish, it's a good thing. Corona and fish go hand I hand.
This place has amazing chicken tacos.
One of the best mexican food that I have had...a bit salty but good.
Went here looking for some amazing pozole. All the reviews said that the food was delicious so I trusted all of the reviews and was extremely disappointed....
The food is so good here! Tastes homemade! Service is okay, atmosphere is nothing special. But their food is delish!Favorite item: Shrimp enchilada plate....
We visited this restaurant on the advice of hotel staff. The food was excellent and authentic. The salsas were a little underflavored (bland), but the beans, rice, and meats were very good. Portion size was big, especially for the price paid, and service was fast....The restaurant was very busy at noon, but the restaurant was able to handle it. I would go hear again, but would definitely want...
Tasty Mexican food eats. Very straightforward hearty food, order at the cashier and sit and eat.
Was in Burbank on business and a friend recommended Costa Azul. Went in for a late dinner (they were closing in a half hour) and found the food OK. Went in for lunch the next day and ordered the shredded pork burrito and it was...one of the best I have ever had!. There's something to be said for freshness. Their gratus chips were good as were the homemade(?) salsas (red and green). I will...
Mexican food & drinks were great. All there dishes are great.
Hands down the best bean and chee I have ever eaten EVER, and I am no stranger to the bean and chee. A simple burrito I know but you can seriously F it up. I have also had the pastor, asada, and…
My husband and I love this place. Would recommend it to everyone!!!
Menudo!: Hands Down; The best Menudo in LA! 7 days a week! the atmosphere could use some improvement.

Don't bother!: Extremely overcooked food. Server so preoccupied with how she looked, she forgot half our order. No ambiance.

Divided in two section, a sit down restaurant priced higher and a fastfood section that is cheaper. Real carne asada (charbroiled not fried...
Costa Azul is an oft-overlooked gem among the many Mex places in the Valley. The menu is big and varied, but they specialize in tradtitional Mexican seafood dishes. The large seafood soups and huge bowls packed with fish and shellfish in a tasty broth. The large shrimp cocktails are packed with large, fresh shrimp. The non-seafood dishes are also good- try the carnitas and the pork tamales....
